| WHAT: Join City of Eugene Recreation and Willamette Riverkeeper for a paddling cleanup effort along the Willamette River through Springfield and Eugene. We will start from Eastgate Woodlands at the end of Aspen Street (aka: D Street Boat Ramp), pick up trash along two miles of the river, and take out at the Alton Baker Boat Ramp. Reserve a seat in one of our rafts or bring along your own boat!
WHEN & WHERE: Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 | 8:30AM - 1:00PM Please arrive at our takeout location (Alton Baker Boat Ramp) by 8:30AM. We will leave personal vehicles there – a City of Eugene bus will provide shuttle transportation to the put-in at Aspen Street. If you are bringing your own boat, we will be able to transport your watercraft back to the put-in on top of our raft trailer.
To get to the meetup location: follow the entrance into Alton Baker Park over the canoe canal and past the main parking areas. Follow the road around to the left, and take the first right turn for the boat ramp parking area. We will provide a City of Eugene shuttle to take you to the put-in.
DETAILS: Please be on time – we will run a shuttle from the takeout (Alton Baker boat ramp) to the put-in at 8:40am. If you are running late, please call event coordinator Luke Stuntz (617-834-8727). Once we arrive at the put-in at Aspen Street boat ramp, we will go over the cleanup plan and conduct a safety briefing before heading out on the water. Make sure to dress for the weather and the water – it will likely be cold and wet! Please bring your own water bottle and wear sturdy closed-toe shoes that you are comfortable getting wet and muddy. Willamette Riverkeeper will provide trash bags, gloves, and trash grabbers. PFDs are required and must be worn at all times on the river to participate in this event. PFDs will be provided for those reserving a seat in a raft.
BYOB? Please be proficient paddling in Class II moving water for this river segment.
