| Welcome to 2024 MCCA Summer Conference Website. For those that have not traveled to Mackinac Island in the past, you are in for a unique experience. The island is steeped in history and beauty. Except for a couple of emergency vehicles, it also boasts a motorized free landscape and roads. The horse and bicycle are Mackinac's main transportation conveyance. Read through some helpful hints below and links above to make your experience getting around easier.
What to expect:
Making Reservations: Reservations can be made by calling (800) 833-7711 or emailing group reservations at reservationsdepartment@missionpoint.com. Reservations can also be made online by clicking on the booking link: Michigan Community College Association. Reservations to include early arrivals or later departures can only be made by calling group reservations. Deadline: All reservations must be made before Saturday, June 29, 2024. Rooms are based on availability at the time of calling in. An advanced deposit of one night's room and tax is required to confirm your reservation. Mission Point Resort accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express & Discover. Credit card will be charged for the deposit at the time of booking. Mission Point has a variety of barrier free rooms reserved for MCCA attendees. Please contact Michelle if you have any issues reserving these rooms at michelle@mcca.org or 517-755-6301.
How does the Ferry Service and luggage to the Island work? We will be using Shepler's, Ferry Line. Before you cross the water to the island, you will be asked which hotel you are staying at while on the island. Your luggage will be tagged and transferred directly to the hotel you are staying at. Upon check in, you will present your luggage tags to the front desk. This will ensure that your luggage gets to the correct room.
How long will it take me to get to the Island and hotel? The ferry ride from Mackinac City or St. Ignace to the island will take about 25 minutes. From the dock, a horse drawn taxi to Mission Point takes about 15-20 minutes. Some ferry trips include a route that goes under the Mackinac Bridge.
Picking up your packet: Your packet will include ferry and taxi tickets for you and your guests. The MCCA Staff will have a table set up at Shepler's Ferry on Tuesday the 30th only. If you arrive before or after the staff have left, you may pick up your packet with the Shepler ticket agents. Parking must be paid separately with the ticket agents.
Can I bring my own bike? Yes, you can bring your own bike. There is a nominal fee for transport of the bike to the island. We request you bring a bike lock, but there are some available in the activities center in case you forget.
How do I get to the resort once I have arrived on the Island? A hotel shuttle operated by Carriage Tours/Mission Point runs on a set schedule for guests once they arrive on the island. In addition, you are free to explore downtown and take a taxi at your leisure from wherever you may be. The short 15 minute walk from Shepler's ferry dock to Mission Point Resort is a real treat because you will pass by the Fort, marina, and beautiful residential areas. You will get a feel for life on Mackinac Island.
What is the Dress Code for the events? The dress code for all of the events this week will be business casual.
Does Mission Point allow pets? Mission Point loves pets - of course! There are a number of rooms in the Straits Lodge which are pet friendly. Mission Point does require that all pets are arranged in advance by calling 800.833.7711. A one-time, non-refundable fee is charged for pets, the amount depends on the size of your furry friend.
What time is Check In/Check Out? Check in time is at 4:00p. Check out time is at 11:00a.
How do I arrange for my luggage to be transported back to the mainland dock? Mission Pointe’s bellman will tag and ensure your luggage is transferred back to the appropriate mainland dock. Your luggage will be held in a secure location to be picked up when you get off the ferry boat on the mainland. We do kindly request at least a 2 hour window for the transfer.
How do I get my Car when I arrive back in Mackinaw City? If you used the Drop off Service at Shepler’s Ferry Line you will call the number on the back of your parking ticket when you board the ferry to return. When you arrive back on the main land your car will be there, running, and waiting for you. |
