We are excited to announce that the Boundary Bay Airshow is back this summer!


This free admission family event takes place every July, and it draws people from all areas of the Lower Mainland. The Airshow includes vintage and modern day aircraft displays, aerobatic acts, air performances, food trucks, family fun activities and more! Our Airshow welcomes over 25,000 spectators, and in order to keep the event free we rely on the generosity of volunteers like you.

Event Date: Saturday, July 13th, 2024

Location: Boundary Bay Airport

Time (tentative):  Set Up: 07:00 AM

Gate Opens: 11:00 AM

Show Ends: 16:00 PM

VOLUNTEER PROCESS

To begin the volunteer process, please complete the below volunteer application form. Upon receipt of your application form, a volunteer coordinator, will be in contact with you to schedule a general orientation.  


Please complete and sign the application, the General Waiver, the Media Release, and the Email Release. 

AVAILABLE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

The following volunteer positions assist with airshow operations, and are available to qualified applicants. We have a number of additional volunteer positions available as well, such as greeters.

Vendor Escort


This crew will provide escort to food vendors/exhibitors from the main gate to their assigned position on ramp. At end of day, collect Vendor Lanyards. 


Shift time: 07:00 – 11:00

Set Up Crew


This crew will provide assistance with posting banners and signs around fencing, setting up tents and booths, and other set up duties. 


Shift time: 07:00 – 11:00

Aircraft Security



This crew will ensure security of aircraft on an apron and in a hangar and monitor restricted areas access. 


Shift time: 10:00 – 16:00
 

Food Area Attendant


This crew will ensure that public eating area is clean and tidy throughout the day. City of Delta Parks & Rec staff will be on had to assist. 


Shift time: 10:00 – 16:00

Tear Down Crew


This crew will provide assistance with taking down banners and signs secured to fencing, dismantling VIP tent, booths and Children's Activity area. Assistance in light ground clean up at the end of the show.


Shift time: 15:00 – 18:30

Parking Attendant


The parking attendant volunteers are the most important portion of the Parking Team! It is your responsibility to guide cars effectively into each parking spot.


Shift time: 07:00 – 13:30

Airshow Volunteer Policy and Code of Conduct


Boundary Bay Airshow volunteers commit to observing the following codes of conduct.


  • Treat everyone fairly within the context of their activity, regardless of gender, ethnic background, color, sexual orientation, religion, political belief or economic status
  • Agree to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the position as a positive role model, and as a representative of Alpha Aviation
  • Follow Airshow Operating Rules
  • Respect the privacy and dignity of participants by not divulging confidential information without consent, except where required by law as in the case of suspected child abuse
  • Respect others’ dignity; verbal or physical behaviors that constitute harassment or abuse are unacceptable
  • Consistently display high personal standards and project a favorable image of your program and of volunteering;
  • Refrain from public criticism of fellow members.
  • Abstain from and discourage the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco products in conjunction with program
  • Refrain from the use of profane, insulting, harassing or otherwise offensive language while volunteering;
  • Seek ways to increase your professional development and self-awareness.


General Waiver

I will hold harmless and indemnify Boundary Bay Air Show, its affiliated companies and officers, directors, and employee of any loss, damage, liability, claims, cost, and expense, including legal fees, which may be incurred by reason of the volunteer program at the Boundary Bay Air Show unless
* I understand the foregoing general waiver and have signed voluntarily.

Cell Phone usage

In order to ensure your safety, the safety of the participants and others around you, cell phones and other electronic devices (including cameras) unless otherwise stated are to be turned off and put away during your volunteer shift. Your focus is needed at all times on the event.

Media Release

Promotional materials are dynamic in nature; we are always taking photographs in and around the Boundary Bay Airshow. These photos will be used in the future, in a variety of formats to promote future Airshow opportunities and its positive benefits to the community.


I understand, and do hereby consent and agree that the Boundary Bay Air Show, its employees or agents have the right to videotape, or make digital recordings of me during the event and to use these in any and all media, now or hereafter for marketing purposes. I further consent that my name and identity may be revealed therein or by descriptive text or comment and I release to the Boundary Bay Air Show, its agents, and employees all rights to exhibit this work in print and electronic form, and to market and sell copies.

* I waive any rights, claims, or interest I may have to control the use of my identity or likeness used.
