Instructions for Completing the Form


  • Personal Information: Please provide your full legal name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
  • Academic Information: Please provide your current school name and address, as well as your most recent grades. Please attach a copy of your transcript.
  • Statement of Purpose or Video response: In 500 words (or 5 minutes video), describe your background, interests, and future career goals. Explain why you are interested in pursuing a career in the manufacturing or skilled trades industry, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals.
  • Resume: Please attach a copy of your resume that highlights your work experience, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.
  • Letters of Recommendation: Please provide two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your character, work ethic, and potential for success in the manufacturing or skilled trades industries. These letters should come from non-family members, such as teachers, coaches, mentors, or employers.
  • Use of Financial Funds: Please provide an overview of how this scholarship will help you with your career goals.

Scholarship Program Goals

Our scholarship program has several goals, including:

  • Supporting the next generation of leaders in the manufacturing sector and skilled trades.
  • Providing financial support to students pursuing education and training in these fields.
  • Encouraging diversity and inclusivity in the manufacturing sector and skilled trades.
  • Promoting awareness and understanding of the importance of the manufacturing sector and skilled trades to our economy.


Scholarship Amount

Aurora chamber of Commerce will be offering two scholarships of $5,000 each, one for Manufacturing and one for Skilled Trades.


Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for our scholarship program, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a grade 12 high school senior who will be attending a college / university / academic or skilled trades program in the upcoming academic year or workplace apprenticeship program.
  • Have a minimum overall grade of achievement of level 2 (65%+). 
  • Must be a permanent resident or Canadian citizen.
  • Must be a student in an Aurora High School or a resident of Aurora, Ontario.
  • Must be between the ages of 17-24 at the time of application. 
  • Show evidence of community involvement and leadership potential, such as volunteer work or extracurricular activities.
  • Must answer questions that demonstrate their interest and commitment to their chosen field of study.
  • Consideration will be given to students who are members of underrepresented groups in their field of study or who are pursuing high-demand occupations.


Evaluation Criteria

All Applications will be evaluated using the following rubrics: 

  • Academic achievement (25 points): The applicant's transcripts and reference letters are reviewed to assess their potential and ability to succeed in a program.
  • Career goals and fit (25 points): The applicant's written / video response, work experience (including any jobs, internships, or apprenticeships they may have held in the manufacturing or skilled trades fields), recommendations, and other materials are evaluated to determine how well their career goals align with the goals of the scholarship program, and how likely they are to succeed in their chosen field.
  • Financial resource use (10 points): The applicant's use of financial resources and any other relevant factors are considered to determine their use of scholarship funds.
  • Extracurricular activities and community involvement (20 points): The applicant's involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteer or paid work and community service is evaluated to determine their leadership potential and commitment to giving back.
  • Personal qualities and character (20 points): The applicant's personal qualities, including work ethic, leadership, and integrity, are evaluated to determine their potential to contribute to their field and society.
  • A virtual interview will be scheduled by the Aurora Chamber of Commerce for the short-listed candidates the Week of May 6th.

Our scholarship program timeline is as follows:

  • Scholarship Launch: February 1st, 2024
  • Applications Intake: Feb 1st – Apr 26th, 2024
  • Application Review: Apr 26th – May 8th, 2024
  • Decision: May 16th, 2024
  • Notification to winners: May 18th, 2024
  • Celebration Photo-Op: May 29th at Aurora Chamber of Commerce Event
