* Knowing that parking meters bring in approximately $700,000/yr in City revenue, equivalent to 2% of the City's total tax base, and also encourage vehicle turnover, what would you like to see happen after March 31st, when the freeze on paid parking in the downtown core expires? Note that loss of parking revenues could be mitigated through increased property taxes or decreased services.

Downtown parking should remain free for 2 hours year-round to encourage customers to patronize downtown businesses.

Downtown parking should be free 2 hour parking in the offseason, October thru May, and require payment June thru Sept to encourage vehicle turnover during the tourist season while retaining some of the $700K revenue for the City.

Downtown parking should be free 2 hour parking in December only to help businesses capitalize on the holidays.

Parking downtown should require payment year round.

* The City is reviewing the bylaws around Short term Rentals (STR's), commonly referred to as Airbnb's. Check which of the following policies you think they should adopt?

STR's should be limited to one's primary residence only (Secondary properties and those owned by out-of-towners should be used for long-term rentals).

The property owner/landlord must be on-site during guests stay, or:

The property owner/landlord/designated manager must be able to be on-site within 30 minutes of a complaint/nuisance call.

STR's should continue to be limited to 3 bedrooms and 6 guests (no more than 2 guests per bedroom), or:

STR's limit should be increased to 4 bedrooms and 8 guests (no more than 2 guests per bedroom).

STR's should have a minimum of one parking stall for 2 bedrooms (2 parking stalls for 3 or 4 bedrooms).

The number of approved STR's should not exceed the number of hotel/motel rooms in the City, or:

There should be no limit to the number of approved STR's in the City.

The City should investigate ways to encourage more long-term rather than short-term rentals.

The current STR rules and bylaws are adequate and do not need to be revised or added to.
