As Congress approaches the September 30 deadline to fund our government, we are facing the very real threat of a shutdown if Speaker McCarthy does not bring a continuing resolution to the U.S. House floor for a vote.


I know government shutdowns hurt federal employees, servicemembers, government contractors, Virginia’s families, small businesses, our local communities, and Virginia’s economy. I know government shutdowns waste taxpayer dollars, impede the delivery of vital services, require complicated and difficult planning, and threaten our nation’s security.
