Anonymous Homeowners Insurance Survey

The Trinity County Fire Safe Council is reaching out to understand the insurance issues we face as a community. With the growing risk of wildfires, affordable home insurance is becoming harder for many of us to find. This 5-7 minute anonymous survey is our chance to gather real information from residents to present a clear picture to the Trinity County Board of Supervisors who can use this information to advocate on our behalf with leaders like California’s Insurance Commissioner, Ricardo Lara, and other groups working to address this issue.

Home hardening is the term used to describe building materials used to resist the intrusion of flames or embers projected by a wildland fire. It can be applied to new construction or for retrofitting an older home.

How much progress have you made in home hardening to protect your home and property from wildfires?

Defensible space is the term used to describe the buffer between your structure and the surrounding area.

Local volunteer fire department members or Trinity County Resource Conservation District staff will come out to complete the home assessment to provide recommendations and tips for creating defensible space, Firewise landscaping, home hardening, and/or emergency preparedness.
