NPPA Conference Attendee Scholarship Application

To Attend the 27th Annual 2024 NPPA Conference

We are happy to announce this year's opening to the 27th Annual 2024 NPPA (National Pharmacy Purchasing Association) Conference's Scholarship Program for Under-Funded Pharmacy Attendee-Facilities. This program began in 2006 and is funded by vendor sponsors and NPPA to help Pharmacy Buyers whose facilities are unable to cover their registration fees and/or hotel room costs to attend educational conferences.


Award Details & Eligibility


To apply: Review instructions and complete your application (as below) by May 13, 2024.

 

Eligibility: 

  • Applicants must work within a Pharmacy Department in a hospital/medical center in order to qualify.
  • The facility/department of applicant is unable or unwilling to pay or reimburse for registration fees and/or hotel room costs to attend educational conferences (such as NPPA’s).
  • If you were a previous year's Scholarship Awardee but didn’t attend the Conference without informing us of your cancellation beforehand, your application for this year will be ineligible.
  • Your hotel room must be booked under the “NPPA 2024” Group Room Block at Horseshoe LV in order for NPPA to reimburse you for the hotel portion of your award after the show.

 

Maximum allowed Scholarship Award per qualifying applicant:

  • Attendee Registration Fee (comped in full);
  • And/or up to 4 hotel room nights at $65/night plus tax under the “NPPA 2024” Group Room Block at Horseshoe Las Vegas hotel (formerly Bally's).


Not included:

  • Hotel Resort Fee of $35/night plus tax (a mandatory addition to the main room rate) is not included in this year's Scholarship Awards, so is the responsibility of each awardee to pay for themselves.
  • Airfare is not included in any of the Scholarship Awards.


For your application to qualify: All the following required and applicable questions must be completed. If any application is incomplete or unclear, NPPA will send a follow-up email to complete and/or clarify those answers. An incomplete application may be disqualified. 


Notice of Scholarship Award: When an applicant is awarded a Scholarship, NPPA will send an email of your Acceptance Notice and award details, to both your work & personal emails. NPPA will then follow up with a phone call the same day or following morning after the notice is sent out, to make sure the email was received and the awardee is aware of it. If an awardee doesn’t respond in some way within 48 hours, their award may be forfeited, as NPPA will then continue to award those funds to the next eligible applicant. To officially accept your Scholarship, a deposit of $50 (by credit card or check) must be provided to NPPA by the date shown in the details of your Award Notice. Your deposit will not be charged or deposited unless you cancel after you’ve accepted your award.


Note that NPPA may require extensive time to review all applications and make the award determinations after the application deadline closes.


Hotel Reservations & Room Rates


Hotel Reservations: We highly encourage all Scholarship Applicants serious about attending, to reserve your room in advance, before you hear about the status of your Scholarship, since the approval process can take a long time before NPPA can review all applications and make award determinations.

Main Room Rate of $65/night plus tax is being held under the NPPA 2024 Group Room Block at Horseshoe Las Vegas, through July 17 (after that time, we cannot guarantee the hotel will continue to honor our rate). Therefore, it is important to reserve by July 17, as NPPA will only reimburse you for the NPPA Group Rate. The room rate is applicable for either 1 King bed or 2 Queen beds, single or double occupancy.


The Resort Fee with each night’s hotel room rate (a mandatory additional fee that includes multiple benefits, as follows), is the applicants’ responsibility. The Scholarship Award hotel portion only applies to the main room rate & room tax. However, we have negotiated a discounted Resort Fee of $35/night plus tax that is ONLY for NPPA attendees reserving under their Group Room Block (regularly now $40/night to OTHER hotel guests). Resort Fee includes the following (on a daily basis): Wi-Fi for 2 devices (in sleeping rooms), Fitness Center access for 2, and unlimited free local phone calls (from sleeping rooms). In addition, NPPA's discounted Resort Fee rate is guaranteed to remain in place up to our show start date, as long as you reserve under the “NPPA 2024” Group Room Block.

Other Hotel charges to be aware of:

  • A first night's deposit will be charged up-front when you first book your hotel room. However it is fully refundable up to 72 hours before the date of your first night's stay.
  • At check-in, the hotel charges $50 per night to your credit card to cover incidentals during your stay. The entire held amount minus incidental charges to your room, if any, will be refunded back to your card 7-10 business days after you check out.

 

How To Get Reimbursed for Hotel Award Post-Show

 

  • All Awardees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations under the “NPPA 2024” Group Room Block at Horseshoe LV (see details & links above), and paying for all room nights up-front.


  • Upon check-out at hotel, request a print-out of your final hotel bill/ledger statement that shows each night's charges in detail with your name at the top left (or you can call the hotel afterwards from home to request it, and they will send it to you via email).


  • After the conference, submit your final hotel bill to NPPA for reimbursement (via email to the same address as your Acceptance Notice was sent, or to our office fax line: 858-581-6372).


  • Reimbursement payments will be sent either by check via U.S. mail or to your PayPal account (payment options will be listed in your Deposit Form to choose from upon acceptance). Reimbursement amount will be for the specific hotel portion of your Scholarship Award as indicated in your official Scholarship Acceptance Notice email.
