Application for Election to Board of Directors



The Board of Directors of the Charles County Chamber of Commerce, in accordance with the organization's bylaws, issues this annual Application for Election to the Board of Directors. Members in good standing are invited to self-nominate by completing the application below along with a current resume no later than Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.


A ballot will be prepared and emailed to the primary representative of each member business in good standing, no later than Wednesday, November 27, 2024. Completed ballots must be returned by close of business on Wednesday, December 11, 2024. Late ballots will not be accepted.


Newly elected directors will begin their three-year term on January 1, 2025.

  • If you are nominated to serve on the Charles County Board of Directors, a criminal background check may be performed. Should you wish to discuss this confidentially, please contact either the Board Chair, Marlon Brown or the President & CEO, Kathy Guzman.

 


  • Serving on the Board of Directors is a significant personal commitment. In addition to attending 10-12 Board meetings each year on the 4th Thursday morning of the month IN-PERSON at the Chamber Office at 303 Charles Street, Suite 100, La Plata, MD, Directors are expected to:



*Attend ALL board orientations, trainings and retreats.

New Board Orientation is scheduled for Friday, January 10th at the Chamber office

The Full Board Training is scheduled for Friday, January 17th at the Chamber office

The Board retreat will be scheduled once all board members are sworn in and a date can be chosen.


*Become familiar with and adhere to the bylaws

*Sign and adhere to the Conflict of Interest and Anti-Trust Statement


*Volunteer on one or more committees


*Attend chamber events and support the organization financially through sponsorships.


*Promote all Chamber events by sharing on social media and selling tickets and/or sponsorships for signature events.
