Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design x Market Collaboration

To celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2025, the Milwaukee Public Market has partnered with three talented students from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design’s Lubar Innovation Center. Each student created a unique piece of artwork that reflects what the Market means to them and to Milwaukee.

We enjoyed working with these artists and are proud of the designs they brought to life. Now we need your help deciding which artwork will be printed on a special line of limited-edition commemorative merchandise, with $2 from every item sold being donated to support MIAD.

Voting is open through May 31. One vote per person. Results will be announced on Milwaukee Public Market's Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X.

About MIAD's Lubar Innovation Center: Through their creative development program, they foster innovative and entrepreneurial thinking to challenge students’ individual interests, support academic programming and collaborate with corporate and nonprofit partners.

See The Artists Work

Artist: Eleri Extence

What is the inspiration behind the artwork?

"My design is inspired by different icons of the market, and inspired by items you may get at the market for a celebration such as the flowers, chocolates, cupcake, and wine. I designed the grid that hosts all of the items to resemble the support beams that can be seen from the market’s second floor. The market hosts a wide variety of establishments, but they all come together under one roof to craft a fantastic experience."

Artist: Kate Kasper

What is the inspiration behind the artwork?

"I've always loved the look of traditional American tattoos, and with Milwaukee's ties to the biking community I thought it would be a great style to represent a beloved fixture of Milwaukee's Third Ward!"

Artist: Olivia Nava

What is the inspiration behind the artwork?

"This design features the sense of community the public market brings. I included people greeting each other outside of the market. I also included a person riding the Hop streetcar, an important part of the city that passes by the market."
