City Budget Community Feedback Survey

Estimated time to complete: 4–5 minutes

The City of Homestead is seeking input from residents to better understand community priorities regarding the municipal budget. Municipal budgets determine how public funds are allocated to services such as public safety, infrastructure, parks, and community programs.

Your feedback will help guide future financial planning and ensure that the City of Homestead’s budget reflects the needs and priorities of the community.

All responses will be anonymous and used for planning and community engagement purposes only.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback.

Where City Revenue Comes From

City services are funded through a combination of revenue sources. These may include property taxes, charges for services, permits and licenses, intergovernmental revenues (such as state or federal funding), and other local revenues. These funds support essential services that residents rely on every day.

Because financial resources are limited, the City must carefully balance community priorities with available funding when developing its annual budget.

How City Funds Are Used

City budgets are generally allocated across several major service areas, including:

  • Public Safety (Police Services)
  • Roads and Infrastructure (roads, utilities, and facilities)
  • Parks and Recreation
  • Community Programs (Special Events)
  • Economic Development (Job Creation and New Business)
  • City Operations and Governance

Community feedback helps the City determine whether these allocations reflect resident priorities.

* 1. How long have you lived in the City of Homestead?
* 2. City budgets determine how funding is allocated for services such as public safety, infrastructure maintenance, parks, and community programs. How familiar are you with the City’s annual budget and how public funds are spent?

* 4. Overall, how satisfied are you with how the City of Homestead currently allocates its budget across services and programs? Municipal governments must balance spending across many services while working within available revenues.

Section 3: Budget Trade-Offs and Future Planning

* 9. If the City had limited funds and could only increase funding for one service, which would be the top priority?
* 10. Municipal services are funded through taxes, fees, and other revenue sources. Would you support a small increase in taxes or service fees if it helped fund improvements to important city services?
* 11. Reducing taxes or fees may require reductions in certain services or service levels. Would you support a reduction in taxes or fees if it meant a reduction in certain city services (such as fewer park programs, delayed road maintenance, or reduced community services)?
12. Please share any suggestions, concerns, or feedback you have regarding the City’s budget priorities or how public funds should be allocated.
