Yes. Mediation typically occurs once parties have fully exchanged all financial and other information.

No. Parties mediate first to see if we can resolve any issue. They exchange information later.

As mediation progresses, parties continue to share information with one another.

* What type of mediation is typically used in your experience?

*Transformative - the least directive and focuses on empowering the parties to make their own decisions, encourages them to recognize the other parties needs, interests, values and points of view

*Facilitative - the mediators structure a process to assist the parties to reach a mutually agreeable resolution where the mediator is in charge of the process, but the parties are in charge of the outcome.

*Evaluative - the most directive type of mediation modeled after settlement conferences with judges, where the mediator points out strengths and weaknesses, and makes recommendations to the parties and may use shuttle diplomacy.

*Combination of Transformative and Facilitative
