| Taste of Nicholas County
This year, kicking off the 54th Annual Potato Festival, The Summersville Area Chamber of Commerce will once again be hosting The Taste of Nicholas County.
This will be a fun evening packed full of live, local entertainment and focused on promoting Nicholas County's vast variety of flavors. Area restaurants will have the opportunity to create unique dishes for attendees to sample and will thus be competing for awards in the categories of "Festival Favorite Potato Dish", "Festival Favorite Potato Dessert" and “People’s Choice”.
This will be a great opportunity for you to showcase your business to the community.
Participating businesses will be responsible for all areas of booth set up including tables, chairs, banners, canopy, food preparations, cutlery, etc. as well as any necessary permits.
A limited amount of electricity will be available but must be requested in advance. (110 hookup only) Participants are responsible for providing their own extension cords.
No sales of any kind can take place at the booth; However, flyers, menus, coupons, marketing materials and incentives for guests to visit the participating restaurants are encouraged.
The Chamber will provide all tickets for sampling as well as voting ballots. The Chamber will be responsible for all ticket sales throughout the evening.
Restaurants are required to present a minimum of two sample size dishes for guests. One potato dish is required for judging. We have partnered with the Nicholas County Potato Festival so please get creative and bring your best potato themed dish. This does not need to be a part of the items you are sampling at your booth but does need to be available for judging.
Samples will be "purchased" by attendees using sampling tickets only. Restaurants will be responsible for collecting tickets as payment for dishes. At the end of the night, restaurants will turn in their tickets to the Chamber and will be reimbursed 50 cents for each ticket collected. The Chamber is not responsible for any lost or stolen tickets.
Restaurants are allowed the freedom of setting the cost of each of their sampling dishes. The max cost of a single dish is 5 tickets.
Restaurants are NOT to supply any drinks, i.e., soda or water. These will be sold by the Chamber. Kirkwood Winery will be responsible for all beer and wine sales.
The Chamber will provide sanitation stations around event. Porta Potties will be available on site.
The cost to set up at the event is $25 for Chamber Members and $50 for non-chamber members. Payment must be received prior to event in order to participate.
A donation of raffle item valuing at least $5-$10 is required. Guests will be provided a stamp card with each participating business listed. Guests who purchase a sample from each booth and fill out their stamp card will be entered to win the donated items.
All Nicholas County food services are encouraged to participate. This includes Restaurants, Caterers, Bakeries, Delis, Food Trucks, etc. You must have a current business license and be licensed to operate in Nicholas County.
Food Truck Owners are encouraged to attend. However, due to spacing issues, no food trucks can be brought into event. All booths must be set up in space provided. You are welcome to bring your food truck and park it in parking lot to prepare your dishes however you must be fully self-sufficient, no electric can be provided to food trucks. No sales of any kind can take place at the event.
