Town of Blackfalds Council Appointed Boards, Committees, and Commissions.


Serving on a board, committee or commission is an excellent opportunity to share your expertise and abilities and to give back to your community. Board and committee members represent community members who provide invaluable perspectives on issues that are important to Blackfalds' residents.


Every December, or as positions become vacant, Town Council appoints residents to boards, committees, and commissions. In order to determine which opportunity will be the best fit for you, please take a moment to fill out this short form to help us plan accordingly. 


Please note those accepted onto the various boards, committees, or commissions will receive an orientation. Chairs will also receive Chair specific training.

Current Opportunities

Family and Community Support Services Board - 5 Vacancies
Advisory Board members contribute to ongoing improvements to the social well-being of individuals, families and community through preventative social programming by providing recommendations to Council and Town Administration on programs and services to enrich and strengthen quality of life.


Municipal Library Board - 3 Vacancies
The Library Board administers the provision of library services to all residents of Blackfalds and surrounding areas. The Board is also responsible for the efficient operation of the library.


Recreation, Culture, and Parks Board - 2 Vacancies
This Advisory Board provides recommendations to Town Council on planning, development, and policy of municipal recreation services and amenities.


Policing Committee - 2 Vacancies
Committee members serve as a liaison between Town Council, the RCMP, Municipal Enforcement and Blackfalds' citizens to foster responsible community action to maintain a safe and secure community.


Municipal Planning Commission - 2 Vacancies
Commission members advise and assist Council and Town Administration and review and make decisions on applications for development permits, in accordance with related municipal planning documents such as the Land Use By-Law and the Municipal Development Plan.


Please be advised that the dates and times of meetings may be subject to change based upon the meeting schedule set at the Committee’s first meeting of the new year.
