| The Congregational Nominating Committee is seeking your recommendation for active members of WHPC to serve as Elders (5) and Deacons (9) beginning in January of 2027, serving a three-year term. Key Information about Elders and Deacons: Elders and Deacons are equal in stature and importance in the life of our church. However, they differ in function and nature of service. Both are to be members who are engaged in their faith personally, and through the ministries of WHPC, as exemplified through their love, compassion, and service. Elders exercise leadership, governance, discipline, and responsibility for the life of WHPC. Elders are members of the Session, and it is their duty, individually and jointly, to strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation. Each Elder serves on a committee of the Session that meets monthly the second week of each month. The entire Session meets in person on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6:00 pm. Deacons engage in a ministry of compassion, witness, and service, sharing Christ's love with the sick, the friendless, and those who may be in distress both within and beyond the congregation. The Board of Deacons meets in person on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6 pm. |
