Register for the IAWMH 28 June 2022 Webinar - Alcohol Use Disorders in Women!
Moderate and severe degrees of alcohol use are associated with adverse consequences in numerous domains. Evidence has increasingly shown that there are significant gender differences in alcohol use disorders : women become intoxicated more quickly than men, metabolize alcohol differently, and develop more severe consequences. Alcohol abuse in pregnant women can impair the development of the unborn child and in severe cases lead to fetal alcohol syndrome. International treatment guidelines have recently been developed to prevent harm to unborn children.
