| What are you uniquely qualified to do as an actor?
Before walking into any audition room, you need to answer this question for yourself.
Why?
Because if you don't, this becomes your new normal:
- You start comparing yourself to others and find your work lacking
- You notice friends are constantly going out for roles that you told your agent your were right for
- A lot of auditions miss you because you don’t have the right ‘look,’’ but you understand the character like no one else
- Your agent says they don’t know how to pitch you because you don’t look like anyone else in the marketplace
- You know that roles confined by the way that you look are always going to be smaller than who you are and what you can do
These crash & burns can be prevented by answering this question:
What are you uniquely qualified to do as an actor.
What does your artist’s soul know that keeps you alive and flourishing day after day?
The answer is your four major emotional types.
Each of us has four major emotional types shaped by the life lessons we’ve mastered. Each emotional type has a set of recurring emotional triggers.
These emotional triggers present under very specific circumstances that your artist’s soul recognizes as life lessons you’ve mastered.
When the given circumstance and emotional trigger match, your emotional type has a unique set of strategies in place to solve the conflict so that your character can have their heroine’s journey.
Since no one alive has your same lived experience, your emotional types are unlike anyone else’s. Specificity comes from solving universal problems through the lens of your emotional type.
Your emotional types inform every aspect of your career from the kinds of roles you pursue, to how you craft auditions, create characters and package your work in a way that the industry understands. In preparation for the fall 12 Week Emotional Type MasterMind, I will be offering an recorded emotional type minicourse and ONE live zoom workshop in August.
