Floodzilla Gauge Steward


A gauge steward would be responsible for maintenance and care of one or more specific gauge location. The gauge stewards would become members of the Floodzilla team, attend monthly meetings, keep up with flood events, and troubleshoot their specific gauges, especially before a forecasted flood event. Duties might include:

  • Help prepare and reinstall/take down gauges, change batteries, inspect antenna, clean sensor and transmitter
  • Clear vegetation and/or debris interfering with sensor readings



This is a ongoing, annual, volunteer role, not a one time volunteer opportunity.

Floodzilla Data Steward


A data steward would be responsible for ensuring accurate readings and data are being recorded/documented. Data stewards would become members of the Floodzilla team, attend monthly meetings, keep up with flood events, and monitor data (especially immediately preceding and during a flood event).Duties might include:

  • Ensure gauges are online and data readings are not picking up interference like vegetation.
  • Monitor flood data readings and coordinate with SVPA staff or gauge steward to clear debris.


This is a ongoing, annual, volunteer role, not a one time volunteer opportunity.

Fieldwork Volunteer


Fieldwork volunteers have a number of different fieldwork tasks they might assist with, depending on the time of year and what projects are going on. Volunteers in this role might assist Floodzilla Staff and/or stewards with redeployment of gauges, perform gauge maintenance, or assist staff with surveying to ensure accurate elevations. Other tasks for fieldwork volunteers might include beaver dam surveying, notching, assisting with installation of management devices (i.e. notch exclusion fencing), or other water quality/quantity monitoring projects.

Taste of the Valley Volunteer


Taste of the Valley Farm Dinner and Benefit Auction is our annual fundraising event that takes place on the last Saturday of July, each year. Volunteers for Taste of the Valley can sign up for a variety of roles including event set up, event tear down, and serving in assistance roles during the event. Roles during the event might include assisting food and beverage vendors, checking guests in, helping clear tables, directing parking, selling raffle tickets, and more.

Office Volunteer


Office volunteers can assist with a variety of different office tasks, depending on SVPA's current projects/programs. Some tasks might include data entry, mailing assistance, fundraising administrative support tasks, general outreach and engagement assistance, event promotion, and other project-based or general administrative tasks.
