Vacant Lot Urban Gardens Program

Sign-up List for Interested Gardeners

Please share your contact information if you are interested in participating in the program.

Before you sign up, some program information is included below:

·      Leases are finalized at the end of April for that year, with this interest form being reviewed each February.

·      Vacant lot gardens are available as an interim basis for most sites. Some locations are floodplain buyouts and are therefore not developable, so may have longer term leases.

·      Gardeners are responsible for mowing and maintaining the portions of the garden they are not growing food on.

·      Only a limited range of chemicals (pesticides/herbicides/fertilizers) are allowed to be used at the gardens.

·      No water is provided by the city to these garden sites – gardeners will need to make an arrangement with a neighbor or bring water into the site if they wish to water their plants.

·      Most lots are located in Northeast Omaha. See the City Property Map to view available garden sites.

·      An example garden lease is included here.
