The MoSDA Mission: Connecting, educating, and advocating for Missouri’s special districts to ensure strong, trusted, local governance and resilient public services.
MoSDA is deeply rooted in advocacy and communication to advance the state’s 1,800+ special districts through grassroots advocacy, and the Association is dedicated to supporting the leaders who oversee and ensure delivery of critical infrastructure, lifepoint, and essential services in their communities.
Together, we empower the leaders who safeguard these services and strengthens the communities they serve.
Core MoSDA Benefits of Special District Membership
- Be part of a strong, united front of special districts’ voices in Jefferson City to advocate and educate lawmakers on the importance of district services.
- Regular updates on policy and trending issues of concern at the state level including advocacy resources for action. MoSDA tracks legislation under its Legislative Affairs Priorities Platform.
- Attendance to MoSDA-coordinated regional legislative and stakeholder roundtables
- Participation in the monthly virtual “Statewide Coordinating Call” with fellow MoSDA Districts and Professional Members.
- Discounted registration for one-day regional workshops offering governance and education resources for special district leaders.
- One free subscription to the Special Districts Download, a biweekly nationwide “newsletter for a special purpose” covering federal and state trends of interest for the special districts’ perspective.

Upon submission, you will begin receiving updates from MoSDA. You will soon receive a member welcome and invoice information soon after.
Please note:
- Benefits extend to all directors/trustees/commissioners, managers, administrators, support staff, and volunteers affiliated with a MoSDA Special District Member.
- Each MoSDA Special District Member in good standing is entitled one (1) vote for Association business.
- The Association is prohibited from leveraging MoSDA Membership dues on political candidate campaigns or action on ballot measures.
- MoSDA will not request dues until after the organizational board meeting in January.
- The MoSDA Districts Assistance Fund is a program intended to help special districts in the "very small" category to afford membership and access programs. The MoSDA Governance Education & Resources Committee will oversee the fund, fueled by voluntary member contributions. This fund is currently not tax-deductible.
