Crop 35 – 2025

Twelve years ago, we established a virus-free meristem culture program at the New Liskeard Research Station in partnership with the University of Guelph in Ontario. Since then, we’ve continued to manage and improve this program to provide reliable clean seed garlic for growers across North America.

In addition to our Canadian clean seed program, we also source virus-free material from trusted partners in Spain and France. These international selections complement our efforts and help maintain strong, healthy seed stock for your fields.

While there is currently no government-approved body in North America to audit or certify clean garlic seed, we remain committed to the highest standards through ongoing testing, transparency, and long-term relationships with research experts.

Our Clean Seed Protocol:

• Virus-free seed developed through meristem culture is grown in a screenhouse for four years before being planted in the field. This becomes the first of five generations, after which we stop propagation.

• Each year, we introduce 10 to 15 percent new virus-free seed into our program to maintain genetic strength and purity.

• We also propagate bulbils from the first-year crop and follow the same five-year propagation cycle.

• All garlic planted in our fields is treated for nematodes. We inspect and walk the fields twice weekly to rogue and test for any signs of infection.

• We are proud to report that there has not been a single positive nematode test result in the past 12 years.

• For more than 30 years, we have supplied several well-recognized retail seed companies in North America and Great Britain.

Ordering & Shipping Information:

• Garlic is shipped in 30lb increments or smaller.

• Larger sizes begin to sell out by mid to late August as we start fulfilling standing orders for our regular customers.



• We encourage everyone to reserve early to ensure availability.
