| This summer will be hot.
Hotter than last year.
The fires will be larger, the floods more destructive — and yet our leaders are more apathetic than ever.
Later this year, we are likely to experience the most intense El Niño in over 140 years, with global temperatures expected to increase by 3 degrees Celsius. The world is not ready for what is about to hit us. This crisis presents us with a rare opportunity to break through our cultural malaise, show the world what is at stake, and galvanize our society towards climate action.
You may be having a hard time balancing the rage and the grief that comes with understanding our current moment. We want to help.
We want you to tell your story when the floods and the fires come, because the best time to shake the public awake to the realities of our ecological crises is when a climate disaster hits.
Climate Defiance wants to help share the stories of everyday people living through climate disasters. By doing so, we aim to show that climate change is not a distant possibility, but an imminent threat; that working class people across the country are bearing the brunt of this chaos; and that ending fossil fuels must be a top national priority. We believe that sharing real stories from real people can be a powerful tool for breaking through fossil fuel propaganda and shaking the public awake to the urgency of the crisis.
Do you live in an area at risk of more intense hurricanes, flooding, fires, drought, heatwaves, or other events exacerbated by climate change? If so, we want to connect with you, and help you prepare for when these disasters may hit later this year.
This project will provide you with training and resources on how to tell your story on camera, safely prepare for natural disasters, understand how climate change is affecting your area, and know which of your local politicians are to blame.
To launch this campaign, Climate Defiance is also offering our first training on video storytelling for the climate crisis on July 21st at 5pm PT/8pm ET. Mark your calendars and fill out the form below to sign up. Our goal is to make you feel empowered to tell your story while still staying safe during a disaster, and for your story to help mobilize people for climate action. |
