We’re gathering to show appreciation to our incredible partners:

The Rotary Club of Bellingham, whose generous grant funded accessible backyard play area renovations at our Blue House, transforming it into a more inclusive, welcoming space for all children. From new trees, an improved driveway, and flowers to a redesigned track, slide, and playhouse, their investment and hands-on support have created a space where kids can thrive.

In 2024, Whatcom Center for Early Learning was awarded a Project Neighborly grant from the Whatcom Community Foundation to create the Disability Pride Art series. This series features large art panels celebrating children with disabilities, now displayed at WCEL’s central location on the corner of H and Girard Streets. Each panel showcases an artist’s interpretation of diversity with a focus on disability and children, many of the contributing artists have disabilities themselves. Complementing this series, WCEL also installed an interactive prayer wheel called the "Wheel of Hope," created by local artist Chris Moench in partnership with Axis of Hope. Located at the Blue House entryway, this piece encourages family engagement by inviting individuals to share their stories of resilience and hope.

This evening also holds a special moment of reflection and gratitude as we honor Anne Brown, founder of WCEL, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation for the inclusive programs we provide today. In her honor, we are installing a commemorative bench at the Blue House, a lasting tribute to her legacy and the countless lives she’s touched.
