How to Engage in a Daily Meditation Practice:

These 30 minute on-demand video recordings explore the 21 meditations presented in The New Meditation Handbook by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.

´╗┐Each video begins with the Liberating Prayer to set a good intention followed by an initial breathing meditation to settle the mind. A brief teaching on the particular topic is then presented, and the session concludes with a contemplative meditation for developing realizations that lead to a calm and peaceful mind.

1. Our Precious Human Life

This meditation encourages us to practice Dharma. Dharma teaches us how to control our mind and become happy. By meditating on our precious human life we will not waste our time engaging in meaningless activities. With this meditation, we learn how to make our life more meaningful. 32 minutes.

2. Death and Impermanence

This meditation helps to eliminate the laziness of attachment, the main obstacle to practicing Dharma purely. Because our desire for worldly enjoyment is so strong, we have little or no interest in spiritual practice. As long as we have this laziness the door to liberation will be closed to us, and consequently we will continue to experience misery in this life and endless suffering in life after life. 45 minutes.


3. Dangers of Lower Rebirth

This meditation helps to encourage us to seek protection from the dangers of lower rebirth. If we do not prepare now while we have the opportunity to do so, it will be hard to attain a precious human life again if we take a rebirth in a lower realm. Non-virtue is the main cause for rebirth in a lower realm, while virtue is the main cause for higher rebirth. This meditation motivates us to practice virtue and avoid non-virtue. 45 minutes.
