Babs Plunkett is a catalyst for choosing joy in retirement. She is a Certified Retirement Coach and a Certified Life Coach since 1998. As the author of Choose Joy: Three Keys to Investing Your Time in Retirement, she interviewed over 100 people across the country, gaining their inspiration and insights on positive aging. About This Series

2020 has left so many of us ready for more of the good stuff: more meaning in our lives, move movement for our sluggish COVID bodies, and more connection with the people we care about. If you want to kick off the New Year with fresh energy, then join the Joy Team, a group of like-minded joy-seekers who are ready to support each other in choosing joy.

This four-session, group-coaching format will guide you through the step-by-step process to create your own “Plan to Choose Joy,” based on Babs Plunkett’s newly released book, Choose Joy: Three Keys to Investing Your Time in Retirement. We will take a deeper dive from the Choose Joy Masterclass, exploring in-depth examples of how ordinary people aged 60-100 years are living with joy and meaning by engaging their minds, moving their bodies and connecting with others. Each week, you and the other Joy Team members will try out one of the three keys to choosing joy. We’ll explore “Try This” ideas, share interactive activities and discuss playful, thought-provoking questions.

Together we will celebrate the successes and explore the challenges of finding joy. You will leave with an individualized “Plan to Choose Joy” - a concrete action plan defining what you’re committing to each week that helps you live joyfully.

This is a 4-Week Series

Week One: Engage Your Mind: Discover what you want to do Monday morning to find meaning. We’ll explore strategies ranging from doing good for others, uncovering a passion and “unretiring.”

Week Two: Move Your Body: Decide how you want to stay in motion, without going to the gym. Learn how others are staying healthy by going outside, getting their steps while giving or moving for the joy of it. 

Date: Tuesday, January 26

Week Three: Connect with Others: Explore how to deepen existing relationships or bravely build new friendships. We’ll uncover five, achievable strategies for connecting with others.

Date: Tuesday, February 2

Week Four: Put It All Together: Create your “Plan to Choose Joy,” defining the action steps you’re choosing each week to live with joy.

Step Two: The Zoom link contained on the confirmation or in the confirmation email will take you to a second page, which is the registration process for our Zoom Virtual Conference Platform which will ask you to re-enter your name and email to confirm. That second registration will generate a meeting invitation email which contains your UNIQUE MEETING LINK AND PASSCODE that will allow you to log-in to the meeting/call/workshop at the appointed time.

Yes, we realize that a double registration process can be a bit frustrating, however this addition step is to protect our virtual meeting from uninvited guests gaining access to the online classroom and causing any type of nuisance or disruption.

In the event that SHIFT cancels a program, you’ll receive a refund of your registration payment.

SHIFT will not issue credits or refunds in the following circumstances:

  • You cancel your registration
  • You register but do not attend
  • You attend but leave early
  • You do not attend all sessions of a multi-session course
