Update to the Community

PCL Reopens with Limited Hours and Services

The Pittsford Community Library reopened on Monday, June 29 with limited hours and services. The library will reopen in phases for the safety of our staff and community. Additional hours and services will be gradually phased in.

Hours

Monday: 10am - 7pm

Tuesday: 10am - 7pm

Wednesday: 10am - 7pm

Thursday: 10am - 7pm

Friday: 10am - 6pm

Saturday: Pickup Service Only 10am - 1pm

Sunday: CLOSED

PCL’s reopening prioritizes staff and community safety, and incorporates the recommendations of the CDC, New York State, and Monroe County Department of Health. Additional hours and services will be gradually phased in. Check back for updates to hours, services, and guidelines.

Safety

  • Plan your visit and limit your time in the library. Building capacity will be limited.
  • Enter and exit through the parking lot entrance.
  • Face coverings must be worn at all times.
  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the library. We strongly encourage using hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the library, and before and after touching any shared objects.
  • Follow markers on the floor and signs throughout the building to maintain appropriate social and physical distance from other patrons and library staff.
  • Limit the items you touch within the library to only those you intend to check out.
  • Materials cannot be returned inside the library. Continue to use the outside book drop.

Saturday Pickup Service

On Monday, June 29, the Pittsford Community Library reopened with limited hours and services. In addition, we continue to offer a pickup service on Saturdays from 10am-1pm. The instructions below are to ensure not only a smooth process, but the safety of our patrons and employees. Face coverings must be worn throughout the process and social distancing guidelines followed.


Pickup Schedule

  • Pickups will be scheduled on Saturdays from 10am–1pm.
  • You can request materials for Saturday pickup when the library is open, or on Saturdays from 10am1pm.


How to Request Materials

  • All library materials currently available on our shelves are eligible for pickup.
  • Request a maximum of 10 items per household per week.
  • Email us your request at pclreference@townofpittsford.org or call in your request at 585-248-6275.
  • Include or have ready the following information:
  • Your library card number.
  • Essential information about the items, such as title, author, format, and publication date.
  • Three (3) preferred pickup times. Pickups are scheduled on Saturday up to one week in advance. Possible pickup times are 10am, 10:30am, 11am, 11:30am, 12pm, and 12:30pm.



Pickup Instructions

  • Bring your photo ID or library card.
  • Pickup will be in the entrance to the library.
  • Follow the posted instructions and observe social distancing floor markings and signs.
  • To ensure the safety of our staff and community, face coverings must be worn throughout the process. Please limit the number of people in line during the pickup. Surfaces will be wiped down between pickups.

Library Information


When are my materials due?

Materials checked out between February 3, 2020 and June 8, 2020 have a due date of June 29, 2020. Regular due dates resumed on June 9 with materials checked out through the library's curbside pickup service. Check your receipt or library account for exact due dates.


Can I drop off my materials in the outdoor book drop?

Yes, the outside library book drop is open. Returned materials will be handled minimally before being quarantined for at least 3 days. If you return materials, expect a processing delay of 3-5 business days. The inside book drop remains closed. Please do not bring materials you need to return inside the library.


Why are materials I returned still on my account?

As a precaution, all materials returned to the book drop will be quarantined for 72 hours. Expect a processing delay of 3-5 business days.



What if my holds are ready for pickup?

Holds can be pickup inside the library or scheduled for a Saturday pickup. Please call the library to arrange schedule the pickup.

Is the library open for scheduled events, programs, and room reservations?

No. All library events, programs, and classes are cancelled. This includes public reservations for the Fisher Meeting Room and Fletcher Steele Room. Study rooms and meeting rooms are not available during the first phase of reopening the building.


Are the Friends of the Pittsford Community Library accepting donations?

No. The Friends are not accepting donations at this time.


Are the Friends of the Pittsford Community Library holding their spring semi-annual booksale?

The spring semi-annual book sale scheduled for April 24-26, 2020 has been canceled and will be rescheduled.
