October 20 VIRTUAL Workshop: Scheduling and Hosting Zoom Meetings

If you have attended SHIFT events on Zoom, you are already familiar with the key functions of attending meetings. Schools and organizations like SHIFT are using Zoom to host classes and events. However anyone with a free Zoom account can use Zoom to connect friends and family for family gatherings, virtual events, playing games or even virtual happy hours. It is an important tool for helping adults stay connected and engaged during the pandemic.

This Zoom class will explore the core functions that are used to schedule and host Zoom events.

You will:

  •     Learn the limitations of using the free Zoom personal account and what capabilities are available with an upgrade to one of the professional accounts.

  •   Learn how to schedule Zoom meetings and invite others to your events.  Learn about essential meeting options that are set when you schedule your meeting.

  •  Understand how to start and host a Zoom meeting.  You will explore essential host functions for managing your meeting and participants.

To schedule and host Zoom meetings you will need to register for a Zoom account.   Zoom offers a free service for meetings up to 45 minutes long and with a limit on participants.  It offers an unlimited time service for $10.00/month.  It is recommended that you register at before the class. We will provide basic instructions prior to the class.

This class is for users of laptops, PC’s, smartphones or tablets. There is a Zoom app for each of these systems and any of the apps can be used to schedule and host meetings.

After the session, you will have access to the resources found on the website. There you will find lessons specifically developed for older adults.  Use the online site to review class topics and explore lessons on other topics.

Please note that this is STEP ONE of a TWO-STEP Registration Process.

Step One: Register for the Event using the button below.

(But don't click the button yet. Read the entire set of instructions first)

Once you click on the button below and register, you will see both a confirmation page AND our booking system will send you a confirmation message to the email you used to register with us.

Step Two: The Zoom link contained on the confirmation or in the confirmation email will take you to a second page, which is the registration process for our Zoom Virtual Conference Platform which will ask you to re-enter your name and email to confirm. That second registration will generate a meeting invitation email which contains your UNIQUE MEETING LINK AND PASSCODE that will allow you to log-in to the meeting/call/workshop at the appointed time.

Yes, we realize that a double registration process can be a bit frustrating, however this addition step is to protect our virtual meeting from uninvited guests gaining access to the online classroom and causing any type of nuisance or disruption.

Thank you for your patience with this additional SHIFT safety process and protocol.

In the event that SHIFT cancels a program, you’ll receive a refund of your registration payment.

SHIFT will not issue credits or refunds in the following circumstances:

  • You cancel your registration
  • You register but do not attend
  • You attend but leave early
  • You do not attend all sessions of a multi-session course

Event Sponsored by Maser, Amundson and Baggio, P.A.

When you give to SHIFT, your donated funds are used to run the year-round programs that support our mission of providing support, education and workshops to people in midlife navigating work or life transition. The bulk of the money we receive goes directly to these initiatives. A portion is also used to serve day-to-day needs and operational expenses so we can continue to offer these programs to our members. Thank you for your generous support.
