Chippewa Savannas Chapter: Prescribed Burn Training

Join the Chippewa Savannas Chapter for a day of prescribed burn training, including classroom and field training. This one-day class completes two components necessary to obtain prescribed burn certification to assist on The Prairie Enthusiasts burns. Registration is capped at 30 attendees so register today!

Ticket Details

Registration is limited to 30 attendees. There are ticket options available for students ($10) and non-students ($25). Registration closes after Wednesday, April 8.

Classroom Portion

9:00 a.m. to Noon

UW-Stout campus in Jarvis Hall Science Addition Room 156; 410 10th Ave E, Menomonie, WI 54751 (MAP HERE)

Parking is available in Lot 18 (free on weekends).


Following the classroom portion, there will be an hourlong break for lunch and to travel to the field training site.


Field Training Portion

1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Dobbs Landing, 7573 850th Ave, Colfax, WI 54730 (MAP HERE)

Follow the gravel easement road all the way back to the parking area.

11:20 a.m. - Break (10 minutes)

11:30 a.m. - Burn Plan - Presented by Julia Chapman (15 minutes)

11:45 a.m. - Questions

12:00 p.m. - Break for lunch and travel to Field Site

1:00 p.m. - Meet at field site for field portion


What to Bring

Participants are responsible for providing their own lunch. Dining options are available on UW-Stout's campus.


For the field portion, attendees must wear long pants, long sleeves, leather boots, leather gloves, and a head covering (hat or bandana). Fabrics for all clothing must be natural fiber (cotton, wool) or Nomex. We will provide tools.
