Behavioral Health Threat Assessment (BETA) Training for Law Enforcement & Emergency Systems Partners

Region V Systems is hosting a 32-hour training designed to assist Nebraska law enforcement personnel obtain better outcomes when working with persons with behavioral health needs.

The Behavioral Threat Assessment Training (BETA) educates officers and other emergency mental health partners, such as clinicians, case managers, and peers, on recognizing signs and symptoms of behavioral health crises and implementing safe and effective crisis intervention strategies. Additionally, participants will learn how to conduct a basic threat assessment and develop management strategies.

  • The BETA training is not just a lecture-based program. It offers interactive sessions that encourage participants to connect with individuals experiencing mental health challenges at various levels. This unique approach fosters a deeper understanding of mental illness and significantly contributes to positive outcomes in interactions between law enforcement and those with behavioral health needs.

Continuing Education

  • 22 hours of credit will be awarded to meet requirements for Continuing Education Units for the following professions: LMHP, LMFT, Social Work, and Professional Counseling.  


  • 32 classroom hours will be offered for Law Enforcement officers.


  • Participants must attend the entire training and complete the final evaluation to receive credit.
