Veteran Claims and Appeals

The California Department of Veterans Affairs ---California Transition Assistance Program
(CalTAP) in partnership with the California Association of County Veterans Service Officers (CACVSO) would like to invite you to attend our virtual workshop which will feature information regarding filing VA disability claims and the appeals process.

Guest speakers will be available to answer questions following the presentation. All service members, veterans, and their families are welcome to attend.

MEET THE PRESENTERS

Jana Adams, Training Coordinator

Calvet, CalTAP

  

Jana Adams started with the Department of Veterans Affairs in 2017 as the Department Training Officer in the Human Resources Division. She is currently a Training Coordinator on the California Transitional Assistance Program (CalTAP) team in the Veteran Services Division.

Jana grew up in the Sacramento area and attended California State University Chico, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Communications with an emphasis in Leadership Studies. 


In her current role as a CalTAP Training Coordinator, Jana provides information about earned benefits and resources available to veterans, service members and their families throughout the state of California. Jana provides this information during outreach events at military installations and on higher education campuses throughout the state as well as through video conferencing platforms. 


Beyond her passion for serving Veterans, Jana has continued to volunteer her time as a Panhellenic Advisor within the Greek system at University of California Davis since 2012. In this role, Jana helps to plan and execute philanthropic events to raise money for various foundations. 

 

Sharee Nuez, Training Coordinator 

CalVet, CalTAP 

 

Sharee Nuez started with CalVet as an analyst in the Operations unit and then joined the Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) unit in the Veterans Services division before she joined the CalTAP team.

 

Sharee is a graduate of the University of San Francisco, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations. Prior to working for the state of California, Sharee worked in higher education in student leadership development, at Gap Inc., and as an event coordination with the San Francisco Giants. 

  

Sharee’s father is a retired Air Force veteran and she has several other members of extended family in service. When she is not at work you can find Sharee on the bike trail or roasting coffee beans.  

 

California Association of County Veterans Service Officers (CACVSO)


The California Association of County Veterans Service Officers (CACVSO) is an organization of professional veterans advocates. In California, The County Veterans Service Officer plays a critical role in the veteran’s advocacy system and is often the initial contact in the community for veterans services. Through the County Veterans Service Officer, the CACVSO is committed to California Counties to provide a vital and efficient system of services and advocacy to veterans, their dependents and survivors.
