We are excited that Jon Scott Bennett, creator of the Peekskill Riots docuseries we screened at the ARCN in 2025, is returning to share another compelling historical film.

This is the story of the Pound Ridge Massacre (March, 1644), as well as the Dutch colony of New Netherland (New York), and the Indigenous “River Tribes” of the Hudson River Valley.

On one forgotten night in March of 1644, a combined force of Dutch and English colonists attacked a Native American village in present day Westchester, NY. It was one of the deadliest attacks on the Indigenous people along the Atlantic Coast. Mr. Bennett documents that event, the colony of New Netherland (later New York), and the "River Tribes" of the Hudson River Valley.

The film will be followed by Q&A with Jon Scott Bennett.

Meet our presenter:

Documentarian Jon Scott Bennett has gained recognition for his coverage of the Peekskill riots of 1949 and his previous films covering under-discussed history including The Pound Ridge Massacre and The Leatherman. Bennett bridges the gap between in-person and online audiences to share the important stories hidden in our backyard.

Member Policy

Black, Indigenous, and People of Color may join the ARCN with a complimentary equity membership.

White people who cannot afford the cost to join may apply for a scholarship. White people with the means to pay are asked to do so, and we also welcome People of Color who would like to support us in addition to your presence by enrolling in a paid membership plan.
