Purpose

The Tribal Public Health Conference, formerly the Data, Evaluation, and Grant Writing Conference, aims to strengthen your capacity for grant writing, data utilization, program evaluation, and culturally responsive program implementation to support public health and health promotion efforts for American Indian/Alaska Native communities across California.

Sessions

This year's sessions will focus on maternal health, navigating data dashboards, data decolonization, storytelling as evaluation, writing goals and objectives, data sovereignty and cancer disparities, traditional ecological knowledge, emerging issues in Indian county, Tribal leadership engagement, functional traditional medicine, outreach and media marketing, and a traditional ways.

Audience

All California Tribal Health Programs, Tribes, Tribal organizations, and Urban, all Urban Indian Health Programs affiliated with the California Tribal Epidemiology Center (CTEC), Advancing California Opportunities to Renew Native Health Systems (ACORNS), Substance Use Disorder (SUD), Suicide Prevention, Domestic Violence Prevention Initiatives, Tribal Medication Assisted Treatment (TMAT), and Tribal Opioid Response Program (TOR) Grantees funded by CRIHB. Recommended attendees include program directors, project leads, grant and support staff.

Travel Arrangements

Lodging at the event hotel will be available to participants traveling outside of Temecula up to four nights: Monday, July 7 - Friday, July 11th. CTEC will cover the cost of hotel fees (room + tax only) and book your rooms based on your approved registration information. Please correctly enter the nights you will need lodging at the event hotel on the registration form.

Reimbursement Policy

  • CRIHB will reimburse participating organizations /Tribes/programs for meals (per diem), and travel expenses (mileage and airfare, as applicable) for participants after the event.
  • CRIHB will cover hotel fees at Pechanga Resort Casino (room + tax only) as part of the participant’s approved registration and is therefore not included as part of the scholarship reimbursement.
  • Participating organization/Tribes/programs will be reimbursed a flat rate at the following regional rates:
  • Northern (Crescent City - Sacramento): $1250
  • Central (Stockton/Bishop - Bakersfield): $1100
  • Southern (Grapevine - San Diego): $800
  • If participants are staying at a hotel other than the host hotel, they are expected to make their own reservations. Their organization/Tribe/program will still receive the full flat reimbursement rate.
  • If participants are flying, they are responsible for making their own flight arrangements to the conference.
  • CRIHB is not able to pay for the lodging/meals/travel or other expenses for additional guests not participating in the conference.
  • Please note to receive the reimbursement participants must sign-in and attend every day of the conference.
