Future Ohio Leaders! OSDA Project STIRTM Leadership Training in Columbus, Ohio December 10-12, 2024

OSDA and the Franklin County Board of DD invite you to attend the next Project STIRTM Leadership training taught by People with Disabilities. You will learn to empower yourself and others to speak up and take more control over your lives! 


What is Project STIRTM?

Project STIRTM is a 3-day training taught by people with Developmental Disabilities. You will learn to use tools to help your advocate for yourself, connect with others and gain leadership skills. You will also learn how to empower people with disabilities to have greater choice and control.

 Participants will learn to:

  • Speak up about things important to them,
  • Solve problems,
  • Use their rights and responsibilities,
  • Be more involved in their community,
  • Become a leader,
  • Start or strengthen a local advocacy or network group,
  • Plan for the future by Charting their LifeCourse! 


It is recommended that attendees with a disability invite an ally to participate in the training along with them at no additional cost.

OACB Advocacy Scholars Program: Scholarships are now available from The Ohio Association of County Boards of DD (OACB) in an effort to prepare and empower people with developmental disabilities to participate in statewide policy and advocacy conversations within Ohio’s County board system. This new initiative—the OACB Advocacy Scholars Program—will award one annual scholarship to an individual from each of OACB’s eight geographic regions who apply to participate in Project STIR™ Leadership Training. If you are a resident of Franklin County and are unable to use your waiver for the registration fee, the Franklin County Board of DD is offering stipends to help pay for the training. The fee covers all of your training expenses. There is no additional fee for an Ally for a person with a disability.
