Bioblitz at the Manhattan Beach Dunes

Join The Bay Foundation, Audubon Society, Heal the Bay, and the City of Manhattan for a BioBlitz in the Manhattan Beach Dunes! Snap photos of wildlife, learn about dune ecology, and see how your observations connect directly to ongoing restoration work along the LA coast.

Observations collected during this BioBlitz will be uploaded to iNaturalist and contribute to the City Nature Challenge, a global effort to document biodiversity and engage communities in science.

Arrival:

Kindly arrive 10-15 min early to check in and setup. Meeting location bike path at 36th st and The Strand. See the map for reference (red square).


Bioblitz – 10:00 AM

Begin the morning with a Bioblitz. We'll work together to find and identify as many different species as possible!



Dune Restoration – 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM

After IDing wildlife, join The Bay Foundation in giving back to our local environment through a hands-on habitat restoration event.


What to Bring:

  • iNaturalist App (phone/tablet)
  • Comfortable clothing
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Sun protection


What we provide:

  • introduction to wildlife ID
  • gloves and hand tools for restoration event
  • water
