Soil Health Master Class

This intensive masterclass will provide an in-depth exploration of the revolutionary Haney Soil Health Test, developed by soil chemist and microbiologist Rich Haney. Unlike traditional soil tests that rely on statistics from labs or single geographic areas, the Haney Test treats each field as a dynamic, living system, examining soil from a holistic and biological perspective rather than the typical physical and chemical approach.

About the Presenter

Dr. Liz Haney is a soil and ecosystem scientist on a mission to transform agriculture from the ground up. With deep expertise in regenerative agriculture, soil health testing, carbon modeling, and conservation science, Liz works at the intersection of profitability, sustainability, and human health. Driven by purpose and passion, she helps producers adopt regenerative practices that restore land, increase resilience, and strengthen rural communities. Her work bridges research and real-world application, supported by a wide network of scientists, consultants, farmers, and food system innovators. As the founder of Soil Regen and co-founder of Regen Mills and Heritage Ground with Russell Hedrick, Liz brings vision and strategy to regenerative supply chains. She’s also proud to contribute to Farmers Reserve Distillery, connecting soil health to premium value-added products. Known for building community and convening thought leaders, Liz leads educational events, workshops, and conferences that inspire action and foster collaboration in the regenerative movement.

Assisting in this presentation is Carolyn King, Vice President of Operations for Continuum Ag, Agronomist, and experienced Haney Test Interpreter.

What You'll Learn:

  • How the Haney Test uses H3A extraction to assess individual field variables
  • Understanding soil health data collection and interpretation
  • Real-world applications for improving soil health and farm productivity
  • Strategies for implementing soil health practices that rebuild rather than deplete soil function
  • How to read and apply test results to make meaningful improvements on your own farm

What's so special about the Haney Test?

Today, many farmers are being asked to produce more while managing increasing input costs.

One of the most important questions a grower can ask is: How much fertility is my soil already providing?

Most conventional soil tests focus on nutrients extracted with strong chemicals. The Haney Test takes a different approach by measuring the biological activity and plant-available nutrient pools that microbes are actively cycling in the soil.

When you understand these biological processes, you gain the ability to:

• Identify nutrients already being supplied by the soil

• Improve fertilizer efficiency and reduce unnecessary inputs

• Strengthen soil biology that drives nutrient cycling

• Build resilience into their cropping systems

• Protect profitability even when input prices fluctuate

Ultimately, this masterclass is about giving you the tools to better understand their soil so you can make decisions that strengthen both your land and your bottom line.
