This is our 9th year holding Arts Impact's Voices from the Field (VFF) Summer Educator Art Academy. The academy takes a deep dive into Arts Impact's Culturally Responsive Pedagogy which is the framework used to train educators on standards-based arts infused Math, Science, ELA, and Social Studies lessons. The lessons are designed to help educators build student voice and experiences with the assistance of artist mentors. During educator training in the academy, qualifying students under OSPI's Migrant Education Program from multiple districts will be participating in their own arts academy (separate from the educator's academy). The last day of the academy, the educators will get to see the student's inspiring performance. The extraordinary experience to see the migratory student's creative expressions will leave you in awe and excited to bring the arts into your classroom.
The academy is held at Fort Worden, Port Townsend from July 7th -12th. It is approximately 25 - 30 hours of professional development spread throughout 5 days of fun arts enriched training experiences. Clock hours will be earned, some of which are equity clock hours.
VFF Mentorship Program: After the academy, educators will continue to train on arts infused lesson writing and teaching during the academic year. The mentorship is a 1:1 partnership with an artist mentor where they will support you in writing and executing your very own arts infused lesson. Clock hours will be earned for all sessions held with the artist mentor which is 7 sessions, 4 of which happen during your class instruction, equating to 10 - 12 hours.
