Immigrant Justice Volunteer Training

Join us for a collaborative training event designed to equip volunteers with the tools to stand in solidarity with immigrants in our community. This one-stop shop will prepare you to take action through four key volunteer opportunities: ICE Verifier Volunteers, Accompaniment Volunteers, Rapid Response Hotline Operator Volunteers, and Immigrant Family Emergency Response Fund Volunteers. Details about these volunteer roles are included below.

Come for all or any of the sessions! Refreshments will be provided.

Attending the training does not obligate you to volunteer-it's just the first step!

Individuals will answer phone calls remotely using an app on your personal smart phone; call scripts are available to assist you, in addition to other resources. Volunteers will also participate in a Signal App group chat and will utilize online forms to report interactions. Volunteers must be bilingual (Spanish-English) to participate. Other languages are welcome and encouraged to attend this training and serve in an “on call” capacity to be engaged as needed.

Individuals join a Signal App group chat on their personal devices and are coordinated to respond to reported instances of immigration enforcement in the region. Individuals may witness enforcement activity in this role. Volunteers can speak one or many languages to participate in this effort; you are not required to be bilingual to serve in this role.

Individuals are trained to go in teams to physically accompany immigrant neighbors to appointments (“check-ins”) with immigration authorities and will follow protocol to prepare, communicate, and report about the visit. Individuals may witness enforcement activity in this role. Teams may include monolingual English-speakers and bilingual volunteers; you are not required to be bilingual to serve in this role.
