A festive guided walk around Porlock Marsh to learn about birds that visit Exmoor's coast in winter. Join a local bird enthusiast for a festive 3 mile circular walk from Porlock down to Porlock Marsh and the shingle ridge. Learn how to spot and learn how to identify the coastal birds that visit this fascinating coastal landscape in winter. Some of the likely species you might spot include Stonechats, winter ducks Teal, Pintail, Widgeon, Pochard and waders such as Redshank, Oyster Catcher, Knot, Dunlin, Turnstone, Curlew. Suitable for beginners and those with some knowledge of birds.
Meet in the car park at the Central car park in Porlock (pay & display) for a 10:00am start.
Walking boots/wellingtons advised along with warm waterproof clothing. Dark clothing if possible, so as not to scare birds. Bring binoculars and a warm drink.
Accessibility: This walk includes ares of uneven ground, with frequent cobbles near the shingle ridge Sorry no dogs.
