Pre-Trip Inspection & Walkaround

This course emphasizes the significance of conducting daily vehicle inspections to proactively identify and address potential problems and defects before operating the vehicle. By adhering to the HTA Regulation 199/07, which outlines the mandatory daily (pre-trip or "circle check") inspections to be completed within 24 hours before driving, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the importance of Pre-Trip Inspections. The goal is to equip operators with the knowledge needed to prevent the operation of vehicles with issues that could lead to or worsen accidents.

This course focuses on the daily inspection requirements for specific vehicles, including all heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and converter dollies, either individually or in combination, with a total gross weight or registered gross weight exceeding 4,500 kg. Additionally, it covers buses designed to transport 10 or more passengers, along with any trailer towed by these vehicles. The scope also includes accessible buses modified for transporting individuals with disabilities, provided they are not used solely for personal purposes, as well as every trailer towed by these buses. School-purposes vehicles and buses engaged in transporting six or more children or adults with developmental disabilities under contract with a school board or other relevant authority are also within the purview of this training.
