About the Instructor

Donovan Evans, known as Foto Dono, is a passionate photographer and mentor with years of experience guiding students through the art of image-making. Whether capturing the Milky Way or teaching in the classroom, he fosters a supportive learning environment where photographers at every level can grow and find their unique voice.

  • Will this class help with older equipment? Not fully. The class is geared to modern DSLR and mirrorless cameras. For older systems, ask JPI about private lessons.
  • What cameras are covered? Most DSLR and mirrorless systems (Canon, Nikon, OM Systems/Olympus, Panasonic, Sony). No film, smartphones, or tablets.
  • Do I need a flash? No. The class uses constant lights for demonstrations so everyone can participate.
  • Will strobes or speedlights be covered? Yes, in principle. Demonstrations feature Godox and Nanlite, but the emphasis is on the fundamentals of lighting.
