About Benjamin Perks

Benjamin Perks is a leading global advocate on issues related to child poverty, education, mental health, early childhood development, and prevention of violence against children. He is a Senior Fellow at the Jubilee Centre at the University of Birmingham in the UK and an associate member of the Department of Social Policy and Innovation at the University of Oxford.


A renowned voice on ACEs, healing, and resilient systems, Benjamin engages audiences worldwide through keynotes, blogs, and media appearances. Notably, he delivered the keynote at our 2022 virtual Lead the Fight event—“Giving Children with Trauma a Voice”—uplifting leaders across 23 states and 11 countries with his vision of connection as the “vaccine against ACEs.” He is the author of the newly released book, Trauma Proof: Healing, Attachment, and the Science of Prevention—a powerful exploration of how connection and care can break the cycle of intergenerational trauma.

The impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and trauma underlie many societal problems we face today. School violence, domestic abuse, child abuse, addiction, chronic diseases, depression, anxiety, and so many other issues have their roots in unbuffered early trauma and adversity.


In 2015, Center for Child Counseling launched Fighting ACEs to build awareness and action to mitigate the impact of ACEs and build well-being through Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs).
