About the Speaker:

Jackie Smith

Vice President of Development at the Animal Rescue League of Boston

Jackie Smith is the Vice President of Development at the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL), the first female-founded animal welfare organization in Massachusetts, in operation since 1899. Recognized for its innovative, award-winning programs that go beyond sheltering, ARL addresses the root causes of the issues facing animals and the people who love them. By partnering with communities, ARL helps animals heal and thrive, keeps pets and people together, and protects animals from harm.

As Vice President of Development, Jackie oversees all fundraising strategy and operations, raising more than $4M each year to help to ensure ARL remains an unwavering champion for animals in need, helping more than 20,000 animals annually.

Jackie has served at ARL since 2014, previously holding the positions of Director of Development, Associate Director of Development, and Manager of the Annual Fund and Operations.

Prior to joining ARL, Jackie worked for a variety of mission-driven organizations developing brands, driving strategic communication, overseeing development operations, and securing funding for causes that strive to end homelessness and ensure children and adults with disabilities have equal opportunities.

Jackie received her Bachelors of Science from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University, and completed a Certificate of Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Questrom School of Business at Boston University. She serves on the Board of Sojourner House, an organization serving homeless families in Boston.
