| The sight of ribbons flying around the traditional Maypole in front of the schoolhouse and the performers from the Mystic Garland Dancers brings authentic English folk dance to life. Guests may join in to frolic along with the performers to participate in this tradition. Performances at 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 pm. Guests are also invited to try their hand at crafting May baskets, paper flowers, and spinning pinwheels, all guided by cheerful and knowledgeable staff. Visitors will enjoy exploring the schoolroom’s authentic artifacts while learning about the building’s unique past, including its affectionate nickname: “The Hot Potato School.” The schoolhouse was Lincoln's last remaining one-room school and was relocated to Chase Farm Park from its original location on Angell Road, restored, and re-opened for ongoing activities throughout the year.
Admission is $10 per person, which includes all craft materials and activities. Proceeds benefit the local nonprofit, organization of volunteers, Friends of Hearthside, and support ongoing preservation, history interpretation, and educational programming at the schoolhouse. Space is limited so it is advised to reserve your spot early. |
