Getting Started w/Augmentative/Alternative Communication:Dispelling Myths & Applying Best Practices

This workshop will provide special education professionals w/foundational knowledge surrounding AAC, the AAC evaluation process, & research to dispel pervasive myths. Attendees will reflect on and examine assumptions & beliefs that may be barriers for students w/ high support needs. This information will equip professionals with the knowledge to make evidence-based decisions & immediately apply best practices for students. They will leave the session ready to ensure students have the proper tools to develop language & literacy skills, demonstrate their knowledge, & access their curriculum.
