Alsadek, known unofficially as the “Mayor of Rancho Santa Fe,” is a longtime resident and community volunteer for many causes including the RSF Rotary Club and the Osuna Committee for the Rancho Santa Fe Association. She earned both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in systems engineering at the University of Southern California. After graduation, she worked in technical support and systems tests for Motorola and the Hughes Space and Communications Group. Alsadek and her husband Louay have two grown sons, and Georgia, a granddaughter whom she calls “the cutest pink peanut in the world.” Alsadek enjoys walking the Ranch’s beautiful trails with Andorra, her Great Pyrenees rescue dog. And, yes, she plays pickleball.

Laurel, an award-winning news anchor and reporter at KFMB-TV/News8, is known for her incisive storytelling and deep commitment to giving people a voice. As the daughter of a Southern Baptist preacher, she grew up with a broad world view, one that continues to shape her journalism today. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she reported for television stations in Missoula, Montana; Phoenix, Arizona; and Raleigh, North Carolina before returning to California. Devoted to her young daughter Nyla, she is now balancing the joys of motherhood with the fast-paced world of journalism. Laurel has a passion for meeting people, sharing their stories and amplifying voices that she believes need to be heard.
