Danbury Youth Services is celebrating 55 years of providing programs and services to thousands of youth in Greater Danbury. DYS remains committed to the betterment of youth in our community by offering quality programs that teach valuable social skills, build self-esteem, and provide job training as well as restorative justice programs and mental health services. Proceeds from this event are critical to sustaining DYS programs.

The work that DYS does would not be possible without the collaborations we have in our community and our success relies on the support of countless partners.  We are grateful for these relationships and for the people who take the time to engage with youth and foster their success. We will be honoring two individuals who are valued partners of the agency and have made significant contributions to DYS programs.

Together we can inspire youth in Greater Danbury to live positive and fulfilling lives!

Youth Empowerment Partner

Officer Mitchell Heller

Brookfield Police Department

Officer Heller has served on the Juvenile Review Board for two years, demonstrating his full commitment to the program, taking time to hear each case, offering constructive advice to families, and diligently following up with each client. He puts in extra time to meet with youth outside of DYS to help and support them in completing the requirements necessary to stay out of the juvenile court system. Officer Heller continuously goes above and beyond, empowering JRB clients to seize the opportunity to make positive changes.

Community Impact Partner

Dotsy Torres

Director of Education at Jericho Partnership

Dotsy has hosted DYS Summer Youth Employment participants for ten years and recognizes the value of mentoring teens who are seeking first-time work experience and opportunities for career exploration. She has employed nearly 70 young people, training and offering guidance in the workplace while remaining committed to helping youth succeed in a professional environment. Dotsy has made a tremendous impact on youth through her years of supporting DYS.
