Roof System Thermal and Moisture Design Course is an 8-hour course which will be delivered over 2 days, four hours each day. This course is designed to facilitate in-depth thermal and moisture design skills. Topics span beyond basic thermal terminology and calculations to cooling-load calculations, annual energy consumptions and payback calculations, as well as cool roofing, and temperature calculations within cross sections. Moisture starts with the psychrometric chart and moist-air properties. Additional topics include vapor retarders, the effects of moisture on insulation, air barriers, and mold issues. Practice problems are presented and discussed.

Highlights:

·  This course will discuss the effects that moisture has on insulation, how to prevent damage, and problems with mold and mildew created by moisture.

·  The learner will develop more in-depth thermal and moisture design skills.

·  The course will review basic thermal terminology and calculations, then transition to cooling-load calculation, annual energy consumptions and

payback calculation and temperature-calculations within cross-sections.

·  Air barriers topics will include how and where to use air barriers, how to select materials for air barriers and code requirements for air barriers. Vapor

retarders, when and where to use them, how to select them and code requirements will also be discussed.

PRESENTERS

Peter Saunders, Director, Building Science & Technical Service, Henry Canada

Peter has been a member of the Henry Canada team since 1990. The first part of his tenure, Peter worked as a Henry Technical Service Representative where he spent his time reviewing application on construction sites and training contractors on product application. In 2010, Peter joined the management team where he leads Building Science & Technical Services across Canada. Peter has always been involved with new product development and field verifies products in real life situations before they go to market. Peter has been an IIBEC member & RRO since 2007.

Gary Hamilton, Fishburn Sheridan and Associates, Sr. Engineer; P.Eng., RRC, RRO

Gary joined Fishburn Sheridan & Associates, Consultants as a Senior Engineer in 2022 after retiring as the Technical Manager at the Master Roofers Guarantee of NB at the end of 2021. Gary has been practicing Roof Consulting for over 45 years, became an IIBEC (previously RCI Inc.) member in 2000, and attained his RRO designation in 2003 and his RRC designation in 2004. Gary has participated in several RCI/IIBEC committees including the RRO and RRC Exam Development committees, is a current member of the IIBEC Technical Advisory Committee, and has served on the IIBEC SOC board of directors for several years. Gary was the 2022 recipient of the CRCA Frank Ladner Award in recognition of technical contributions to the roofing industry and the CRCA.

Cancellation Policy:

Should you wish to cancel your registration, refunds will be issued up to two weeks prior to the event and a $30 administrative fee will apply. After that time, no refunds will be permitted. "No Shows" will not receive a refund, however, substitutions are permitted.

Should IIBEC Quebec Ontario Chapter cancel the course, you will be notified by March 27th . Notification is via email to the email address provided with registration.
