Winter Chloride Watch

Each winter, thousands of tons of salt are spread on pavement throughout Illinois to melt snow, sleet, and ice. Much of this salt ends up in rivers and streams where it harms aquatic life. National Great Rivers is providing the training and tools for volunteers across Illinois to monitor road salt pollution in local rivers and streams. After completing this hour long virtual training, you will be ready to monitor chloride in your local waterbodies.
