Psychological Healing After Injury

This presentation will provide an overview of the BRIGHT program, an acute mental health support program for survivors of physical injury. This program is a collaboration between UCCS and a local Level 1 Trauma Center, and consists of in-hospital contact, post-discharge outreach, and brief therapy for survivors of injury at risk for mental health challenges. We will focus on lessons learned, research findings in this realm, and implications for mental health providers.

Presenter: Timothy Doenges, PhD


Timothy Doenges, PhD, is a staff psychologist and Assistant Clinical Instructor at the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He is the Principal Investigator on a grant-funded partnership between the Institute and UCHealth-Memorial Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Colorado Springs, and is the site Principal Investigator on a program enhancement initiative for justice-involved veterans in Colorado’s 4th Judicial District. Dr. Doenges works in the realms of program development and the intersections of health psychology and trauma psychology. He also works in private practice. His day-to-day activities include clinical work, clinical supervision, program management, and logistical support of several research initiatives.
