Meet Our Keynote Speaker: Illinois Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch

We are honored to welcome Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch as the keynote speaker for this year’s Holiday Dinner & Fundraiser.

Speaker Welch is a lifelong champion for Proviso Township and one of the state’s most influential leaders in education, economic development, and community empowerment. A proud Maywood native and graduate of Proviso West High School, he has dedicated his career to expanding opportunities for families and strengthening communities across Illinois.

As the first African American Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, he has led major legislative victories that support small businesses, uplift working families, invest in public schools, and advance equity statewide. His leadership continues to shape the future of our region and our state.

At this year’s event, Speaker Welch will share reflections on 2025, insights on the opportunities ahead, and a message of hope, partnership, and progress for Proviso Township.

We are grateful to have him join us for this special evening of community, celebration, and giving.
